A Literary Hero Of William Shakespeare s Othello

â€Å"Houston, we have a problem!† Hopefully in my own space exploration project we will not need to utter that infamous phrase. This trip is extremely dangerous, and it is not definite that we should ever return to Earth, our goal is to find proof of alien life. I am responsible for choosing my own compatriots that I feel would be the beneficial to my mission. To join me on my journey I am taking with me three very different people, all with a varying set of strengths. First, I chose Beowulf to accompany me due to his strong leadership and monster-killing qualities. Then, I decided I needed someone to serve as Beowulf’s second in command, the perfect candidate for this position would definitely be Sir Gawain, a chivalrous knight of King Arthur’s Round Table. For my third companion I am going to take Shakespeare’s character of Desdemona, from Othello. Beowulf stands alone as the definition of a literary hero. Beowulf is not only a well respected king to hi s subjects, but is also a national hero for the neighboring kingdom of Denmark. Once Beowulf makes a commitment, like he has for this voyage, he stands by it, even if it costs him his life. Beowulf will be an asset because of his strong convictions. Beowulf will serve as the leader of our expedition. In case our expedition should meet with any inhospitable extra-terrestrials Beowulf would be able to use his creature-killing sword, Hrunting, which, â€Å"had never failed the hand of anyone who hefted it in battle, anyone who foughtShow MoreRelatedThe True Nature Of Shakespeares Characters In Othello1546 Words   |  7 PagesThe True Nature of William Shakespeare’s Characters in â€Å"Othello† Ever since it’s creation over four centuries ago, William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy â€Å"Othello†, has reigned as one of the greatest play’s of all time. Analysis Of Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby - 1321 Words

Cole Chase-Beach Ms. Lucibello English 11H 02 April 2016 Chase-Beach’s A Night to Forget and how it relates to Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby As the artist I chose to paint a very common scene for the 1920’s. I was strongly influenced by a prominent theme in The Great Gatsby: the role of women in society. The painting portrays two women at â€Å"Tony’s† which is a jazz bar situated in the heart of New York City. It s the typical scene of secretive alcohol consumption and sensuality. The dancing woman is seemingly carefree whereas the second woman is leaning flirtatiously at the bar as if to get the attention of the bartender. Outside the buildings and roadway are presented in black and white to contrast with the bright, jovial interior of the bar. The Great Gatsby often touches on the many facets of New York. The novel alludes to the fact that there is more to just the appearance of something. I feel as though my piece represents this in an interesting way. A factor I wanted to capture in my piece was women s role in society. During the 1920’s in America, women were seen as objects of fun. Daisy Buchanan, the main lady in The Great Gatsby, states that she â€Å"hopes [her daughter will] be a fool,† because, â€Å"that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.† (17).
